♥ Drinking milk, correctly...February 18, 2012
Hi all,
It seems like it's time for another intellectual entry once again. Been an intensed week and I've haven't have a good breakfast in a long long time.
So in order to make sure I wasn't on an empty stomach, I bought 2 cartons of fresh milk and reminded myself to drink it every morning!
Yum yum yumz! You'll have to agree with me that it is only right to have fresh milk in the morning right? However, on the second morning, my stomach started churning, it's starting to bloat really bad and I had a hard time concentrating. These symptoms so similar to having diarrhea seems to be telling me that I'm lactose intolerant.
So I did some readings and found out the real reason behind it. Drinking milk needs to be done correctly! It's not as simple as pouring into your cup/ glass and then gulp it all down into your tummy!
1. Time
There was a argument about what time to drink milk is the best. (Not for body building) Some say that drinking milk an hour before you sleep can actually help you improve sleep. As milk contains 2 morpheuses that is similar to morphine. So drinking in the morning is a No no. However, recently there's another group of scientists saying that milk cause dryness and it does affect your sleep. So what's the right time to drink it?
Just drink it any time of the day! You'll just make sure you're awake enough to do your work. (Personally, I don't feel the sleepiness. Rather without it I feel like I don't have enough energy to go through the day.)
2. Temperature
It is common to drink milk right away after pouring it out from the carton box. Sometimes when I'm real lazy, I'll drink it straight from the carton box itself. And that's a HUGE mistake! You'll have those bloated symptoms like I did and it is really uncomfortable even though it isn't causing any pain.
Milk should be drank at about 20 to 30 deg C. So pour out the milk, prepare your breakfast/ brush your teeth get dress etc etc etc and then drink it. The milk is still yummy and doesn't cause those gas! You'll love it!
If you're planning to boil your milk, be notified that there will be no nutrition benefit after heating. It is only left with the taste and texture.
3. Food accompanying
Milk should be drank with the foundation reason to absorb the maximum amount of calcium and protein (for health and not body building). So there are some common items that shouldn't be paired with milk.
Orange/ Acidic food
Chocolate
Tea/ CoffeeSo enjoy your milk the way you want it, but carefully! If you're lactose intolerant, it would be good to switch to milk without lactose!
