♥ Support soccer with dignity...March 07, 2007
I'm blogging this in the middle of the Barça vs Liverpool match at Anfield.
I can't believe that I'm actually doing this. Well, usually I like to have all my attention on the match.
Well, I can't help but to feel it this way...
The epl supporters are way too noisy and too expressive.
This isn't directed to only Liverpool fans but it's the fans in general.
Yes, I agree that soccer is a game that you can't keep your mouth shut.
By shouting, screaming and jumping around can show the excitement of the game.
Yes, I do that and I do believe every real fans will do too.
But what I'm saying is the english fans are articulating their opinions way too bluntly.
By jeering at the members you deem disgusting or irritated is a very unsightful scene.
Of cos, everyone has the right and freedom to speech.
But is it ethical to laugh and outright (may i use) affront the opponent/ team member(s)?
No matter I hate Chelsea or hate Real Madrid, I will not jeer at their players.
No matter how I think Drogba is the best actor or how I think Beckham is just a pretty face, I will not jeer at them.
Firstly, it is not respectful to the players themselves. Nor it is respectful to the players' families and friends. It is even more not respectful to the team and the team members. Last and the most important, it is not respectful to the teams' supporters.
There's so much for the respects.
Secondly, by jeering shows your character and your personality. It shows that you as the supporter is rude to 1. the opponent, 2. the opponent's memebers, 3. the opponents' supporters.
(OMG GUDJOHNSEN JUST SCORED! 75')
It also shows that you being a supporter of whatever team is not ashame of your own disgusting behaviour, not ashame of jeopardising your teams' reputation.
Because a single little act of yours and your fellow supporters will hurt the hearts of many others. What will those surronding you think of you and your team?
Deep down in my heart, I believe that (ouch... my poor messi) one's reputation, dignity means many things. Because holding onto your own's dignity means you are able to hold onto the importance of the team you support. Because where ever you go and whatever you do, you represent your team. And your actions is always linked to the team you support.
It is alright to show your anger when the opponent scores. It is alright for you to laugh at whatever silly and funny things they did. It is alright for you to cheer when your team score. It is alright for you to show off your jersey when your team won. But it is not alright to outright humiliate and insult others. What if the opponent does it to you?
Think twice. Do Not DISGRACE yourself, and more importantly, your team.
